What Happens When You Click “Request a Tour on Zillow? 🏡
🚨 Home Buyer PSA:
Many buyers assume that when they click “Request a Tour” or “Contact Agent” on Zillow, Truila, or other real estate websites, they’re being connected directly to the listing agent.
-In many cases, that’s not what happens...
What Happens?
Often, your information is sent to an agent who has paid for buyer leads through that website. That agent might be great, but they are usually NOT the Listing Agent and may have never visited the property before.
That’s because many real estate search sites operate as lead-generation platforms. When you request information, you are the product being sold). You’re often entering a system designed to connect buyers with participating agents.
Many consumers don’t realize how the process works behind the scenes.
✅ - If your goal is to speak directly with the listing agent, look for the listing brokerage information on the property details page, generally below What's Special, just below Day on Zillow, and contact them directly. (Not as easy to find as you'd think it should be..) - But it should be there in a typically less noticeable font
✅ - If you already have a trusted buyer’s agent, it’s usually best to reach out to them first so they can schedule the showing and represent your interests throughout the process.
